Client story

JLL finds a buyer for the former Coca-Cola bottling plant in the Sasstraat in Hasselt on behalf of Group MC.

In 2014, Coca-Cola Enterprises Belgium conducted a sale and lease back for its distribution centre in Hasselt. Coca-Cola then sold the entire site and leased back half back. The buyer was Group MC from Hasselt, a family investment company that, in addition to its activities in the real estate world, also focuses on providing risk and growth capital to small and medium-sized companies.

The site in question is located at the intersection of the Sasstraat and  Trichterheideweg, between Hasselt ring road and the Albert Canal.

Besides Coca-Cola, the building is also leased to Rexel, Omerus Gerechtdeurwaarders, The Moose Experience and Z33 and offers interesting redevelopment potential.

In the autumn of 2020, Group MC exclusively appointed JLL  as its exclusive agent to guide it through the sales process for this site. Group MC and Futurn reached an agreement before the turn of the year. Futurn is a specialist in the (re)development of industrial real estate and transforms existing sites into an innovative mix of sustainable industrial buildings, offices, showrooms and even customised projects. The project is Futurn's third redevelopment in a row in Hasselt, alongside the Ekkelgaarden and Heros business parks. The master plan is currently being drawn up with the aim of submitting the building application for the redevelopment within the next few months.
