Life Sciences and biopharmaceuticals have long been key economic sectors in Belgium. They are supported by multiple tax and non-tax incentives from the governments, both federal and regional. Pharma multinationals like GSK, Pfizer, Sanofi as well as hundreds of smaller companies and start-ups demonstrated strong growth in recent years, hence playing an important role in the Belgian property market.

According to JLL, Ghent, Leuven and Louvain-La-Neuve / Wavre are the most attractive in terms of real estate investment, because of the links with internationally reputed universities, new projects and sufficient liquidity. As an illustration, international specialised funds have closed Life-Science property transactions in these markets over the past 5 years.

The report produced by JLL Research provides in-depth analysis of the main clusters active in Belgium.
